Tomasz Skalski

Since 2018 the Associate Professor at Biotechnology Centre, Silesian University of Technology in Poland. Between 2014 and 2017 a CEO of biotechnology company Biomantis Ltd focused on application of living cultures of maggots in non-healing wounds treatment. Since 1997 he coordinates the students international programs for University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. He received Ph.D. degree in Biology in 1998 from the Jagiellonian University in Poland. In 2015 he received the title “Very Important Polish Innovator” for the implementation of natural biological substance in medicine and pharmacy. He was awarded many times by Rector of Jagiellonian University. In 2007, he has been US government fellow at the USDA Forest Service, Southern Station, Charleston. Author and co-author of patents, over 60 scientific publications and books.

Research interests: environmental sciences, entomology, biochemistry, natural compounds. He is interested in using naturally occurring active substances for medical purposes, agriculture science and cosmetology.

Anna Kasprzycka

Since 2007 Assistant professor at Faculty of Chemistry, Department of Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Silesian University of Technology in Poland. Since 2016 the Deputy Director for General Affairs at Biotechnology Centre, Silesian University of Technology in Poland. She received Ph.D. degree in Chemistry in 2004 from the Silesian University of Technology in Poland. In 2006 she was on an internship at Rostock University Germany. Author and co-author of over 20 scientific publications cited over 200 times, patent and „know-how”.

Research interests: organic and medicinal chemistry, carbohydrates chemistry, natural polymers, chemistry of natural compounds, enzymology and biocatalysis, drug design. She is interested in synthesis and application of naturally occurring compounds derivative of sugars in medicinal therapies.

Artur Góra

Since 2016 the Deputy Director for Science at Biotechnology Centre, Silesian University of Technology in Poland. Since 2015 a leader of Tunneling Group focused on protein engineering, drug design and software development facilitating molecular dynamic simulations results analysis and interpretation. He received Ph.D. degree in Chemistry in 2002 from the Jagiellonian University in Poland. In 2004 he was awarded a JSPS fellowship, and from 2004 to 2006 he was working at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Japan. From 2010 to 2013, he has been Marie Curie fellow at the Loschmidt Laboratories of the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. Author and co-author of over 30 scientific publications cited over 800 times.

Research interests: computational chemistry, bioinformatics and tool development. He is using various approach (own software, molecular dynamic simulations, DFT) for protein engineering, drug design, macromolecules properties description, analysis of experimental results with the use of quantum chemical methods.

Tomasz Magdziarz

He received Ph.D. degree in Chemistry in 2007 from the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland.  In years 2006-2011 was working in the Institute of Chemistry in Katowice. Did several short term stays in France, United Kingdom, and Czech Republic. In years 2011-2019 was working in a commercial research company and did postdoc stay at the Biotechnology Centre in Gliwice in Tunneling Group. Author and co-author of over 20 scientific publications and book chapters cited over 200  times.

Research interests: organic and medicinal chemistry, toxicology, drug design, QSAR, bioinformatics, PKTK modelling, data mining,  toxicology, scientific programming.
